London 2012 to donate 10,000 tickets to Armed Forces

A total of 10,000 tickets will be donated to the entrance to the troops through Ticketshare London 2012 program, giving members of the Army, Royal Navy and Royal Air Force the opportunity to attend the Olympic Games and Paralympic summer comes for free.

Tickets for the Troops was created in 2009 to provide members of the armed forces with free tickets for sports, entertainment, music and cultural events. Since its launch, more than 250,000 tickets have been donated and more than 90,000 soldiers have been recorded in the entries for the website troops.

LOCOG Chairman Seb Coe said: "I am absolutely delighted that through our scheme Ticketshare that involved members of the armed forces and their families. Through ticket sales of our reputation we are allowing the donation of tickets for a number of worthy causes - would be unimaginable that does not include our armed service personnel. I would urge those who are eligible for tickets to the website of troops to register their details.

London 2012 plan will also Ticketshare 125,000 tickets donated to the school in London, while another 50,000 will be distributed to schools throughout the rest of the UK.

Troops need to enroll in the program www.ticketsfortroops.org.uk on November 1, 2011 to be eligible to apply.
