Did you know-Argentine-born basketball player Juan Domingo de la Cruz competed for Italy at the 1980 Summer Olympics in the Soviet Union. He also participated in three European Championships (1977, 1979, and 1981). By the early 70s, he came to Spain to Argentina and then became a Spanish citizen.
Costa Rica
Did you know-The Team of Costa Rica did not participate in the Pan American Games in the United Mexican States in the mid-1950s.
Dominican Republic
Did you know-In 1984, Dominican Republic came in second place in the Caribbean in Trinidad and Tobago Table Tennis. Led by Mario Alvarez, who won a gold medal at the 1982 Central American and Caribbean Games, the Island won two gold medals.

Panama
Did you know-Panama City hosted the ELEVENTH Central American and Caribbean Games in 1970. Surprisingly, the host country's team, backed by Omar Torrijos, the nation's then-leader, won 79 medals (16 gold, 19 silver, 44 bronze) and finished fifth in the unofficial team standings, outpacing Venezuela, Dominican Republic, and Jamaica. At the 11th national Games, the squad-they came in 9th place in the global tournament in the early 70s-won thegold medal in the men's basketball, at the expense of Cuba and Puerto Rico.
