Training and Preparing to Qualify For the US Olympic Team BMX Racing

Dreams do come true, if you plan and stay on course.

I don't know if many of you know this (as I didn't announce it) but I was hired by Red Bull back last year to take care of their two prominent athletes in Mike Day and Jill Kintner (although Mike and I have been working non-stop since 2005). My coaching duties were to basically implement performance infrastructure to enhance these athletes goals of qualifying to the Olympic Games. The only way for this goal to be accomplished was by winning the USA Cycling automatic nominations. For Jill, that meant winning the USA Womens points race. For Mike, that meant qualifying for Olympic Trials and winning.

The 2012 London Olympics

The 2012 Olympics will use a combination of newly built venues, existing facilities, and temporary facilities, along with the 80,000 seat Olympic Stadium and the new Wembley Stadium. The majority of venues have been divided into three zones within Greater London: the Olympic Zone, the River Zone and the Central Zone. Some further venues are, by necessity, covering the boundaries of Greater London.

The Olympic village will have 17,320 beds and furnish each athlete with 16m² floor space, a Tv, Internet access, and a underground courtyard. The dining hall will be able to feed 5,500 athletes at a time.Public converyance will feel a huge redevelopment, along with the expansion of the London Underground's East London Line, upgrades to the Docklands Light Railway and the North London Line, and the new "Olympic Javelin" service.

London 2012

The 2012 Summer Olympics programme will highlight 26 sports and a total of 35 disciplines. London's bid featured 28 sports, in line with other up-to-date Summer Olympics, but the Ioc voted to drop baseball and softball from the 2012 Games two days after it excellent London as the host city. The Ioc reinforced their decision to drop both sports during the Turin Games after they lost votes for reconsideration. They will be Olympic sports for the last time at Beijing in 2008.The Uk's Guardian newspaper reported on Friday 28 October 2005 that open-air swimming disciplines will be added to the Beijing and London Olympic schedules. The paper also reported that women's boxing may be added to London; the Ioc confirmed that women's boxing would not be included in Beijing because they "did not feel it merited inclusion in 2008".

There will be 8 million tickets for the Olympic Games themselves, and a further 1.6 million for the Paralympics. Organisers say that 75 per cent of all tickets will cost less than £50 and offer free tour on London transport, with the cheapest tickets for the athletics starting at £15. Additionally, there will be 20,000 £10 tickets for the Olympic Park to watch events on big screens.

Guerrilla Advertising Done Right!

Done right, guerrilla advertising can not only stretch your advertising dollar much farther than it would otherwise go, it can even win the grudging admiration of your competitors' rivals. Reconsider what happened at the Beijing Olympics. Adidas, an legal sponsor of the Games, had invested millions in advertising campaigns surrounding the event. China's own sporting goods manufacturer, Li Ning, literally didn't have that kind of advertising budget. But they found a way colse to the problem. Li Ning the gymnast, the namesake of the company, was used for the torch lighting event during the chance ceremony. And the fact that he was wearing the company's clothing, brought a great deal of concentration on the firm is very diminutive expense. The move sent the company's stocks soaring.

As a way to gain some real traction in the store amid the hoopla surrounding and major events, guerrilla advertising can be a very beneficial device. And mostly, it is used colse to events like the Olympics where a singular stunt pulled off of this nature can literally go far. Reconsider what happened colse to the Atlanta Olympics. Reebok was the legal sponsor and Nike was not. Still, Nike behaved as a major sponsor would, and handed out flags to attending sporting fans to wave, with Nike Swoosh logo on them. It was a great guerrilla advertising move that won Nike a good deal of street cred.

London 2012

Guerrilla advertising though, works best for small companies. The first step in any guerrilla advertising move would be would be to formulate a plan. At any major sporting event in your neighborhood, acting like you're the legal sponsor is a great way?handing out free energy drinks face the Games Village, or at the airport as athletes arrive, is a great move. Doing the same for spectators arriving at the stadium can be great too. Marketing experts have found that few things make as strong an impact as free stuff handed out to eat.

Hiring a marketing devotee to come up with a clever theme can be a great idea. Calling yourself the best penniless firm of its kind left out of the Olympics for instance, can win a lot of hearts. It famously worked for a clear small beer firm trying to battle the biggest bottler in its area. Countries like England and New Zealand are so fed up with the way guerrilla marketers piggyback on paying companies, that they are passing laws against such tactics starting with the 2012 Olympic Games in London. They feel it's unfair for any firm to behalf unofficially from the advertising budget of an additional one company. They should have quite a time defending the law against free speech litigation though.

Donald Trump--A Most Unusual Double Birth Order

Donald Trump is currently considering a run for the Presidency in 2012. As with any candidate to look at their birth order is a road map to understanding their personality. Donald Trump carries a Double birth order of a Four and a Half. This is a very unusual combination for first you need at least five children in the family, and you must have at least a four years of space between child number three and child number four. You also need the fifth child to be born within three years of the fourth. This is the sibling spacing for Donald Trump.

His Siblings and birth orders:

Olympics 2012

Maryanne, 1937, # 1
Freddy Jr., 1938, # 2
4 years
Elizabeth, 1942, # 3/0
4 years
Donald, 1946, # 4/1
Robert, 1948, # 5/2

There are two types of Double birth orders in hisfamily. Elizabeth has an Only birth order along with her third number of birth. Donald and Robert both have Double ordinal numbers, of 4/1 and 5/2. Understanding Double birth orders is the Rosetta Stone of birth order theory. Using this information along with the ordinal or number of birth really makes the theory work.

Fourth Borns

Donald is the fifth birth in the family. Someone with only the fourth-born birth order is the true baby in the family. They are usually educated by their older siblings and are very rocks. Having much older siblings they are not intimidated by older people. They like to be taken care of as this is what happens in the family. Why are they so loud? As the baby they need to be heard as they are overshadowed by their three older siblings. Thefourth is very good at manipulating others. Their need for attention can make them the comedian or have a very demanding personality.

Let's Have Fun

Having fun and playing games is a natural for the Fourth-born. Life should be fun. Donald was a gifted athlete and almost played professional baseball. This birth order doesn't need to take life too seriously as someone is always there to help them along. Donald's first wife, Ivana was an Olympic skier which was a real challenge to test his skill as a skier. If work is not fun the Fourth-born won't do it. One of his statements has been that the real excitement is playing the game. Most of his interests have been in casinos, golf courses, resort development and also feel beauty. He has made his work fun. At times the Fourth-born canappear to be brash and very direct when asking questions, especially to people who you think would need to be treated with respect. This is the baby of the family speaking loudly in order to be heard.

Firstborns

Donald Trump is also a firstborn as he is the first in the "third" family because of the spacing between his first three siblings. All firstborns can have different personalities based on the gender of the siblings that follow them. In Donald's case it was a brother, Robert. It has been mentioned that Robert is more relaxed than Donald. The firstborn has a head start in school so the second born usually tries to out do him in athletics. If we find the firstborn both a student and athlete then we find a real competitor. Donald was both the athlete and student. He wassent to Military School for behavior problems at age 13. There he earned academic honors, and played varsity football, soccer and baseball. With firstborns "it's all about them, it is not hard to understand why he loves publicity.

Born to Rule

Firstborns want to be in charge. They like giving orders to others and use their money to gain power over others. This birth order finds it difficult to admit they are wrong. They also identify with the dominant parent who they want to follow and emulate. Donald followed his father into both real estate and construction. As a child his siblings called him "The Great" I Am ". He was more aggressive than his other siblings. Not many people can be identified by only their first name. "The Donald" is the term his first wife used to describe himto the press, it is still in use today.

Combining A Four and a One

When we combine this two very different birth orders, you get a child, the number Four and the adult, the number One. The One birth order powers up and intensifies the child-like qualities of the Fourth-born. The One has a quest for power over others and the number Four wants to play. This person can be "in your face" and will have a difficult time admitting they are wrong. They love to hold power over others and like a child they want all the attention. Work to them should be play and Donald loves his casinos, beauty must also feel, and his TV show, The Apprentice. His line "You're Fired" is just what a petulant child would want to say to an adult if he had the power, Donald does. This combination of the Four andOne birth orders explains why he has never respected authority. He is a self promoter and has been called the P.t. Barnum of real estate. Life is fun as he is "The Master of the Deal"

Donald and Walt Disney

Walt Disney like Donald Trump shares the same combination birth order of a Four/One.

This is the spacing of Walt's siblings:

Herbert, 1888, # 1
Raymond, 1889, # 2
4 years
Roy, 1893, # 3/0
8 years
Walt, 1901, # 4/1
Flora, 1903, # 5/2

Walt is the oldest in the third family followed by a sister. Donald was followed by a brother which can put more pressure on him to hold his position. Walt's older brother Roy being the same gender would be more of a support than Donald's older sister Elizabeth who is only four years older and of the oppositegender.

A Problem of Balance

We know that Walt Disney had a problem all his life balancing these two birth orders. Many found him difficult to understand as he would you wobble between his two birth orders. He used his childlike number Four birth order to imagine Disneyland and his Firstborn strength to create it. He was also very patriarchal toward his employees. He was often accused of not giving credit to his artists and writers

Casinos, Golf Courses, Beauty must also feel and Disneyland

The similarities between these two men shows them to both have a childlike side where they are into playing games. Their more serious side shows they can take care of business. Both have had their ups and downs financially but both made it back to the top.

Security for the 2012 Olympics

With around 22 months to go until the start of the Olympics, the UK has to face up to the reality of staging the world's biggest event in a city which has already been hit by terrorism. The main focus now is to make sure the security is in place and measures have already started to be made to make sure London, the participants and the fans are safe within the Olympic village.

It is widely known that London already leads the field in its big brother style security coverage with more CCTV surveillance cameras per person in population than any other city within the world. Olympics minister Tessa Jowell has given assurances that security levels will be consistent with any potential risk of at the time of the Olympic Games.

Olympics 2012

What is certain is that the Games will demand thebest security in terms of technology and human resources. It is common knowledge that prior planning and expertise can deliver a safe and secure for all Olympics. But various insiders have said a price could not be put on preventing a large-scale terrorist attack on the main Olympic site or in London's parks, where hundreds of thousands of people will watch the events on large TV screens erected. "It will cost whatever it takes to ensure terrorism does not once again try to rob London of celebrating the 2012 Games," a source said.

People Power:

Even though the Security strategy for the Olympics is yet to be released and the government officials have indicated what parties will be used to make sure the safety of participants, officials and the audience at the Olympics are safefrom any terrorist attack.

The Army:

Unmanned military planes, as used to monitor the Talibans in Afghanistan will apparently be used to monitor suspected terrorist aircrafts and will man the skies above London.

The Police:

Scotland Yard police will be one of the main security measures for the Olympics. Checking people on public transport, manning the streets surrounding the event and controlling the Street parties London wants to achieve with the Olympics. The people have a huge responsibility with the security of the Olympic Games and will form one of the main expenses from a security perspective.

Security Industry Staff:

Security industry staff will be used for security around the event, checking tickets and stewarding area inside the stadiums and theOlympic Village. These individuals will still require an SIA License which is a positive step for the overall security of the event as the Security representatives will need to be vetted. This kao3 lv4 the risk of rogue security staff and potential security issues with those working at the event.

Volunteers:

It is estimated that tens of thousands of volunteers will be required to help with the Olympics in checking bags and tickets. Taking on volunteers could create further problems however resulting in another headache in making sure all security are legitimate.

Safety vs. Fun Dilemma:

The main problem faced by the 2012 organisation committee is the balancing of any potential security concerns while making sure spectators can fully enjoy a friendly and openatmosphere, the opposite of events which occurred at the Beijing Olympics.

This however is all proving to be the greatest headache for organisers, alongside transport. The main worry for officials is that they want the experience of 2012 to be open and shared not just by those with tickets but by all Londoners, with street parties similar to those in Sydney at the turn of the millennium.

London has a difficult dilemma to face with ensuring the security covers every angle but the enjoyment and celebration of the Olympic Games is still intact. It is said that the security operation is expected to be largest in peacetime Britain, with the two week event indentified as a major terrorist attack throughout the country.

The government however are fully aware of the securityrisks, the cost involved and are actively backing all security measures. A Home Office spokesman said: "The Government and its partners in security are committed to the safety and security of the London 2012 Olympics, and a funding envelope of £ 600 m has been agreed.

"An integrated, costed security plan is being produced, for ministerial agreement by the end of the year. This will cover strategic options for a range of security measures, including fraud and financial crime prevention and protection, counter-terrorism, identity assurance and personal protection. "

Looking Forward To London 2012

The Olympics have long been one of the greatest and most popular events in world sport. It is a festival of sporting events drawing people together from all disciplines, and attracting both amateurs and professionals. For many sportsmen, there will be no greater honor than receiving a gold medal at the Olympics. Following the exceptional and dramatic event which was hosted in Beijing in 2008, the games now move to the UK, and preparations are close to completion for the London Olympics 2012.

The Olympics have an almost universal popularity, and have something to offer for everyone who will be watching, whether they are in the stadium or the courses watching the live sports or relaxing and watching the show on television.

Olympics 2012

The Most Popular Events

The Olympics areoften portrayed as being games where the focus resides mainly on the athletic events. This is certainly not the case for the London Olympics 2012, as there are going to be 302 events spread across 26 sports where medals will be awarded.

It is fair to say that Athletics is one of the important events, with the final of the 100 m sprint being the marquee event in the games. Nevertheless, there are also plenty of other sports which will be massively popular, including the Boxing, Cycling, Swimming, and the Rowing, where vast numbers of people will attend and watch.

Minority Sports

The London Olympics 2012 will also provide a platform for people to watch minority sports too, with examples such as Archery, BMX biking, modern pentathlon, and synchronized swimming going to begiven attention on a world stage with some of the biggest sports in the world.

There have been a few sports which haven't made the cut for the London Olympics 2012, and these have been baseball and softball, which were considered not to be universal enough to warrant being included. There was talk of adding further sports to the schedule such as Rugby Sevens, Netball or no sports but received enough votes from the IOC committee for them to become an Olympic sport.

Worldwide Attention

Although there will be hundreds of thousands of people from around the world attending the Olympic events within the UK, it is in the worldwide broadcasting of the London Olympics 2012 that much of the funds to host the games will have come from. There will be hundreds of millions ofpeople around the world who will watch the games from around the world, and the Olympics is likely to be among the most watched sporting events of 2012.

The Legacy Of The Olympics

When it comes to the effect of any Olympic Games, and especially that of the London Olympics 2012, it will be in the permanent legacy for the city of London that the Olympics will be judged within the city. The regeneration of the Olympic Park in the east end of the city is one of the main projects that has been taking place, and has delivered a lot of investment into the area. It is hoped that the effect of the Olympics will be dramatic for the quality of life for people in London.
